The 3-function electric hospital bed is a medical bed designed specifically for inpatients. It features adjustable overall height as well as the ability to raise and lower the back and leg sections. These specialized functions are primarily intended to enhance patient comfort and facilitate the work of healthcare professionals.
Three Function Hospital Bed
A three function hospital bed is a type of electrically adjustable hospital bed designed for inpatient care. It controls the backrest, leg rest and overall bed height through an electric operating system. Compared with a fixed-height or two-function model, this 3 function electric hospital bed provides greater flexibility for patient positioning, bedside procedures and transfers.
The 450–700 mm height range allows caregivers to adjust the bed platform for different nursing activities. Dianya offers this model for hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers and long-term care facilities requiring a practical three function electric bed without the additional tilting functions of a five-function ICU model.
The upper section can be raised from 0° to 75°. This allows patients to move from a flat position to a supported semi-seated position for meals, examinations, communication and routine care.
The leg section can be elevated from 0° to 35°. Caregivers can change the lower-body position through the electric control instead of operating a manual crank.
The entire bed platform can be raised or lowered between 450 and 700 mm. The lower setting supports patient access and transfers, while the raised position gives medical staff more suitable access during examinations, dressing changes and daily nursing procedures.

| Comparison | Three-Function Electric Model | Traditional Manual or Fixed-Height Bed |
|---|---|---|
| Backrest adjustment | Electric | Manual crank or fixed |
| Leg-rest adjustment | Electric | Manual crank or fixed |
| Overall bed height | Electrically adjustable, 450–700 mm | Fixed or manually adjusted |
| Daily operation | Controlled electrically | Requires physical crank operation |
| Caregiver access | Working height can be adjusted | Limited by fixed or manual height |
| Transfer access | Rails retract beneath the bed deck | Depends on conventional rail design |
| Power requirement | Requires an electrical supply | Manual models work without electricity |
| Typical use | Frequent inpatient care and repositioning | Basic care with less frequent adjustment |
A fixed-height bed may be too low for bedside procedures or too high for convenient patient access. Electric Hi-Low adjustment allows caregivers to select a more suitable platform height for different tasks.
Manual beds require staff to operate mechanical cranks whenever the patient’s position changes. The electric control system reduces manual operation during routine repositioning.
When lowered, the side rails retract beneath the bed deck. This creates more open access beside the mattress when transferring a patient to a wheelchair, stretcher or other care equipment.
The smooth headboard and footboard surfaces simplify routine cleaning. A transparent information-card slot provides a designated place for patient identification.
The release mechanism is positioned beneath the side rail, where it is less likely to be operated accidentally by the patient.
